The Black Girl Magic continues! Six days after Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa captured the Miss Universe title in Atlanta, Toni-Ann Singh, Miss Jamaica, was crowned Miss World 2019 in London on Saturday, December 14. Her victory makes Singh the fifth Black woman to win a top beauty pageant--a record--this year; the others are Miss America Nia Franklin, Miss USA Cheslie Kryst and Miss Teen USA Kaliegh Garris.

Singh, 23, beat out 110 contestants from across the globe to win her crown and is originally from St. Thomas, Jamaica. She now lives in Florida and is a student at Florida State University who plans to become a medical doctor. She is the fourth Miss Jamaica since 1959 to win the Miss World competition.
