Baltimore City Councilman Nick Mosby, 37, has dropped out of the mayoral race and threw his support behind state Sen. Catherine E. Pugh. Mosby, who is married to Maryland State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, said Pugh is best positioned to connect Baltimore to state and federal resources.

“This race was never about me,” Mosby told the Baltimore Sun. “It was really about moving our city forward and not backward. More than ever, folks need to come together, and push the city in the right direction. I made this decision because I love my city and my community.”

Mosby said he has not decided what his next move is when his term on the council ends in December. Both he and Pugh denied that they or their campaign teams have discussed how she may help his career in the future.
