Miami-Dade County Officer Alejandro Giraldo was suspended last week after video footage of him roughly arresting a 26-year-old woman went viral on social media.

Dyma Loving, a South Miami-Dade resident, called for police assistance March 5 after her neighbor Frank Tumm pointed a shotgun at her, The Miami Herald reports.

Loving said she and her friend Adrianna Green, 22, were walking passed Tumm’s home when he called them “hookers.” After the women—one of whom admitted to calling him a “f****t”—replied, Tumm retrieved a gun.

The women retreated and called the police. Things escalated between Loving and the police officers after they arrived. Green immediately began to film the incident, during which Love was captured saying, “Don’t touch me,” as she was pushed toward a fence. She was also pulled to the ground, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence.

She garnered national attention after sharing the video on social media.

Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez announced via Twitter on Thursday an investigation into the incident. "I find the actions depicted on the video very troubling and in no way reflective of our core values of integrity, respect, service, and fairness," he wrote.

Officers originally claimed Loving was "acting belligerent" and "irate" and refused to obey their commands.

According to The Herald, body camera footage released by the police department last week shows Loving spoke “clearly,” never threatened the officer and became agitated only after "repeated questioning" and "threats" from Giraldo.

The man accused of pointing the shotgun, Tumm, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Thursday night. His bond was set at $5,000.

Tumm's arrest was delayed "due to police continuing to interview witnesses" and investigators attempting to obtain a risk-protection order, the news outlet said. According to Perez, authorities were "waiting to get more interviews. There were some conflicting statements," before taking him into custody.

Contrary to statements released by the police, Love believes the arrest stems from pressure brought on by the viral video.

"I believe they only arrested him to try and right their wrong," she said.
