O.J. Simpson Granted Parole in Vegas Robbery Case

Veteran NFL Hall of Famer, O.J. Simpson, will be paroled after serving nine years in prison for an unsuccessful attempt at retrieving sports memorabilia in Las Vegas in 2008.

The Boston Herald reports that the 70-year-old former football and movie star will be released in October after serving time for armed robbery and assault.

He was questioned by four parole commissioners in Carson City by videoconference as he resided at the Lovelock Correctional Center in rural Nevada.

Simpson has been detained there since his conviction in 2008, one that came 13 years to the day after he was acquitted of murder in the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman in Los Angeles.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” Simpson responded emotionally.
