Authorities in Southern California are working to rescue residents trapped in their homes or swept away by mud and debris following hours of heavy rain. At least 15 people have been pronounced dead and more than 25 have been injured, according to The New York Times.
Several properties in the area suffered damage as well, including Oprah Winfrey’s, who shared some of the mudslide’s aftermath via Instagram.
“Thanks everyone for your prayers and concern. My property is fine. Some mud , and minor damage that pales in comparison to what my neighbors are going thru. #mudslides🙏🏾”
She also shared photos of rescue choppers saving her stranded neighbors and a gas fire near her home.
This comes just three days after her rousing Golden Globes speech, which has put her name in the mix as a 2020 presidential candidate.
“I want all of the girls watching here now to know, that a new day is on the horizon.” @Oprah accepts the 2018 Cecil B. de Mille award. #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/hbquC1GBjm
