President Obama: “I Was Too Polite” in Debate

Noah Berger / AP

President Obama has been taking a beating in the public opinion poll after a bad showing at last week's presidential debate. The Commander-in-Chief took to radio host Tom Joyner's morning show to acknowledge the fact that he wasn't at his best by indicating that he was "too polite" in the debate, but pledged to "go ahead and win" the next one. "I think it's fair to say I was just too polite, because, you know, it's hard to sometimes just keep on saying and what you're saying isn't true," Obama said when asked what happened at the first presidential debate. "It gets repetitive. But, you know, the good news is, is that's just the first one."

While most press outlets and fact checkers awarded the more accurate portrayal of the nation's woes, hopes and plans to Obama, the pundits and polls tell a different story. "Romney put forward a whole bunch of stuff that either involved him running away from positions that he had taken, or doubling down on things like Medicare vouchers that are going to hurt him long term," Obama told Tom Joyner. With the issues being at the forefront of the American voting public's mind, the next presidential debate should be about those concerns.
