President Obama celebrated his 52nd birthday Sunday, surrounded by family and friends at Camp David, Md.

It wasn’t a totally relaxing day — the president was receiving updates on reported threats that led the State Department to issue a global travel alert and to close 21 embassies and consulates across the Muslim world.

Obama began his birthday weekend Saturday with a larger-than-usual golf game, featuring three groups of four that included long-time friends from Hawaii and Chicago, as well as some White House aides.
