Update: Amid the controversy surrounding whether the Obamas will be invited to the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the prince spoke his peace during a Wednesday BBC interview. When asked if he will invite the Obamas — and simultaneously invite the wrath of Trump — the prince revealed little.

“Well, I don’t know about that,” Harry said when asked if he’d invite the former first couple. “We haven’t put the invites or the guest list together yet so who knows whether he’s going to be invited or not. Wouldn’t want to ruin that surprise.”

On Wednesday, BBC also aired a September interview in which the prince interviewed the former president.

Original story: The U.K. government is reportedly concerned President Donald Trump will lose his marbles if Barack Obama receives an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding and he’s left out.

People reports government officials are concerned that inviting the former first couple and not the current one to the May 19 wedding will cause tensions between the two countries — and rightfully so. Trump has garnered a saddening reputation of basing political relationships on the impact the other party’s had on his ego.

“Harry has made it clear he wants the Obamas at the wedding, so it’s causing a lot of nervousness,” an insider told The Sun. “Trump could react very badly if the Obamas get to a royal wedding before he has had a chance to meet the Queen.”

But there’s no certainty the Prince will heed the advice of his aides. Since the Obamas moved into the White House, they have developed quite the friendship with the Prince. The relationship has continued after the 44th president’s departure Oval Office.

Trump also has yet to visit the U.K. after a planned trip was rescheduled and Queen Elizabeth dropped out of the meeting altogether. British parliaments have protested any visit from the president after he re-tweeted videos from conservative extremists denouncing which denounced Muslims.

Will fear of the president’s pettiness keep the Obamas away from their comrades’ wedding? Only May 19 — or an official guest list — will tell.
