Janelle Monáe expressed her frustrations Tuesday with how bullying negatively affects people of color and those in the LGBTQIA community.

“Why can’t all homophobic & racist people live in their own f***ing community?” the entertainer, who identifies as pansexual, asked.

She continued, “I am asking a serious question . Put ya’ll money together and start your own community . Build homes & just Be with each other . Stoping making people’s lives who live in the real world miserable.”

Monáe’s tweet came nearly one week after Nigel Shelby, a 15-year-old Alabama student, died by suicide as the result of anti-gay bullying at his school.

The Wondaland Records founder said President Donald Trump should live in the community. “And I would contribute a few pennies to pay you to f**k off,” she tweeted. “Let #45 have the big house in the neighborhood.”

“I wanna have a real discussion around bullies (kids and adults) who bully kids/people because of their sexuality,” she continued. “Bullying leads to KIDS & ADULTS in the LGBTQIA falling into depression & committing suicide in many instances. What should the repercussions be for bullying?”

According to stopbullying.gov, bullying is a public health issue because, “Research indicates that persistent bullying can lead to or worsen feelings of isolation, rejection, exclusion, and despair, as well as depression and anxiety, which can contribute to suicidal behavior.”
