Rachel Lindsey Says Bachelorette Purposely Casts Black Men Who Don't Date Black Women
Rachel Lindsey is alleging that The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchises intentionally cast Black contestants that don't date Black women. Lindsey, who was the first Black bachelorette, lodged the accusations against the dating show during an appearance on comedian Ziwe Fumudoh's variety show. "There was a point where I broke down on camera, and they used my tears for something else, but I was getting upset at the selection of men of color," said Lindsey, according to People. "I also learned as I was going through my season that several of the Black men on my season didn't date Black women." When she inquired further, Lindsey says that a producer told her they cast Black men who have never dated Black women before because they "found it interesting."
Tiffany Haddish Addresses Ellen DeGeneres Replacement Speculation
Since Ellen DeGeneres announced that she was ending her talk show, reports have dubbed comedian Tiffany Haddish as her replacement. Haddish, however, says that there's no truth to the speculation—at least not yet "I haven't commented on it because ain't nobody that give those jobs talk to me about it," Haddish said during an appearance on The Breakfast Club. "The reason I've even been popping up guest-hosting Ellen is because she wanted some days off." She did, however, note that she would be interested if the opportunity presented itself.
Texas Governor Signs Bill Banning Abortion As Early As Six Weeks
Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott signed legislation that will ban abortions in Texas as early as six weeks, The Washington Post reports. The bill, which is known as the "heartbeat ban," makes it illegal to terminate a pregnancy from the moment a heartbeat can be detected. The bill goes into effect on September 1.
Disturbing Footage Released in Deadly Arrest Of Ronald Greene
Two years after Ronald Greene's fatal arrest by Louisiana state troopers, disturbing footage of the apprehension has been released. In the video, officers can be seen punching, stunning, and dragging Greene as he apologizes for leading them on a high-speed chase. "I'm your brother! I'm scared! I'm scared!" Greene can be heard pleading before he is tased repeatedly. According to NPR, Greene's arrest and death while in police custody is the subject of a federal civil rights investigation. Initially, Greene's family was told that he crashed during the chase and died as a result. After that, they said that he struggled with officers during the arrest and died en route to the hospital.

In an interview with Marie Claire, Tracee Ellis Ross spoke on the pressure society places on women to marry and reproduce. The Girlfriends actress, who proudly flaunts her singledom and child-free status, says that while she would "love" to have a more traditional life, she's not pressed. “Well, how could you not? Our society spoon-feeds it to you. I used to put myself to sleep dreaming of my wedding,” said Ross. “And I would still love all of that, but what am I going to do, just sit around waiting? Shut up. I’ve got so many things to do.”
