Ex-NBA player Rasual Butler and wife Leah were killed in a Studio City, CA car crash Wednesday morning, when the basketball player lost control of his Range Rover around 2 a.m. according to TMZ Sports.

The SUV then struck a parking meter and slammed into a wall. At some point the vehicle also flipped over. Officers believe Butler may have been speeding before the incident.

Butler, 38,  was drafted into the NBA by the Miami Heat in 2002 and played until 2016, representing the Hornets, Clippers, Bulls, Raptors, Pacers, Wizards and Spurs throughout his career.

Wife Leah LaBelle, 31, was an R&B singer who placed 12th on American Idol back in 2004. She was also signed to Epic Records for a period of time.
