Saweetie Talks Resilience After Heartbreak, Chauvin Team Seeks New Trial And Dr. Ian K. Smith Accuses Black TV Host Of Anti-Blackness

Saweetie Talks Moving Past Heartbreak

In an interview with W Magazine, Saweetie discussed moving forward in the face of heartbreak. News of her split from Migos rapper Quavo broke during the W shoot and although her mentions were filled with commentary about her decision to end the relationship, the “Icy Girl” rapper didn’t break a sweat. “I’ve learned that the world doesn’t stop for anybody,” Saweetie later told her interviewer. “And it’s for sure not going to stop for me just because I got my heart broke. I was grateful to be doing the photoshoot. I was like, I can deal with all this later.” Since the split, the California native says that she continues to focus her attention on her craft and even confessed that she had to stop looking at the comments people left after she announced the breakup. “Work is what I love most,” she said. “I could give my attention to something that could drain me,” she explained, “or I could focus on what would empower me. And that is this shoot.”

Dr. Ian K. Smith Accuses Black Talk Show Host Of Anti-Blackness

Dr. Ian K. We are not a Black show. Pitch us your white clients. We don’t wanna be looked at as a Black show,’” Smith said during an interview with “The Karen Hunter Show.” Though Smith did not mention the show by name, he did confirm that it airs on a major network.

Miller’s mother has accused the police and the district attorney’s office of attempting to cover up her daughter’s ‘lynching.’ Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan says that her office is still investigating Miller’s death.

Chauvin Team Seeks New Trial

An attorney for Derek Chauvin filed a motion for a new trial Tuesday on the grounds of juror misconduct, prosecutorial misconduct, witness intimidation, and errors made by Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill, CNN reports. The defense team also argued that publicity surrounding the case threatened fairness. “The court has already rejected many of these arguments and the State will vigorously oppose them,” said John Stiles, deputy chief of staff for Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, in regard to the filing. Last month, Chauvin was convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, second-degree manslaughter, and third-degree murder in the death of George Floyd.
