A community in Parkland, Florida, is mourning the recent death of a student from Marjory-Stoneman Douglas High School. Calvin Desir, 16, has been identified as the second Parkland shooting survivor to commit suicide this past week.
Seventeen students and staff members were killed and 17 others were injured after a gunman opened fire with a semiautomatic weapon at the school on Valentine’s Day last year.

A GoFundMe was created to help cover costs related to Desir’s funeral.
Founded by Desir’s sister, Brittany Wright, the description of the fundraiser reads, “My family is grieving over the loss of a wonderful and amazing son, brother, nephew, and friend. We are raising money to support all
About her brother, Wright said, “I can tell you firsthand that he was one of a kind, very soft-spoken and never once hurt a fly. If you ever asked him to do the simplest task, he was right on it. His selflessness and quick action to help others is something that we all deeply admired.”
Sydney Aiello, a Parkland shooting survivor who graduated from the school last year, took her life Sunday, reports CNN. According to the news outlet, the 19-year-old was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder following the massacre.
As more details were provided about the suicide deaths of the shooting survivors, reports Monday announced the apparent suicide of someone involved in another mass shooting.
Jeremy Richman, 49, lost his daughter Avielle Richman when a gunman opened fire in 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, Connecticut. He was found dead of an apparent suicide Monday, the New York Post reports.
