Second Transgender Individual Signs with Military

Where Did ‘Military-Style’ Police Gear in Ferguson Come From? Hint: It’s Not Necessarily the Pentagon

A second member of the transgender community has reportedly signed a contract with the U.S. military, ABC News has confirmed.

The contract was signed with the navy by the individual on Mar. 1, as Trump makes a decision on how the U.S. Department of Defense will handle trangender persons who wish to serve in the military. The president’s final announcement regarding the policy is expected at the end of the month.

On Jan. 1, the federal court ordered the Pentagon to allow members of the transgender community to enlist in the armed services. In order to do so, the individuals must meet strict criteria, such as certification by a medical provider of their health status, as well as treatment associated with the applicant’s transition regarding gender.

On Feb. 23 the first transgender person signed a contract with the military and they are expected to attend basic training in a few months.
