Serena Williams advised her longtime friend Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, to let pregnancy allow her to lose her amiability.

Williams spoke to People magazine about Markle at an Art Basel event for her clothing brand in Miami on Thursday.

“I’m like, ‘How are you?’ and she’s like, ‘No, how are you?’ and I’m like, ‘You’re so sweet, but I’m really asking ― how are YOU?’” the tennis star said about their latest conversations.

She added, “I’m like, ‘Meghan, stop being so nice … you’re the pregnant one, aren’t you supposed to have hormones, why are you so sweet?’ But that’s always been her.”

The Duchess of Sussex is expecting her first child with Prince Harry following their royal wedding in May.

Serena Williams, whose daughter, Alexis Olympia, is now 1, has been giving Meghan Markle some pregnancy advice.

Even with juggling the stress of pregnancy and the pressure of being a new royal, the former actress still finds the time to give her friend counseling as well.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion has been vocal about her birth complications and postpartum depression. She’s used her experience to counsel Markle on pregnancy and parenting.

Williams and Markle reportedly met at the Super Bowl in 2010. The tennis star attended the royal wedding in May, and the princess watched her friend’s notorious Wimbledon final this past summer.

Although they live in two different countries now, the pair still tries to keep in close contact.
