Simone Biles’ Brother Acquitted on Murder Charges
Tevin Biles-Thomas, the brother of Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, was acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges. The charges stem from a triple shooting that left three dead, which occurred at a New Year’s Eve house party in 2018, according to CNN. After a mistrial occurred last month, Biles-Thomas’ defense team requested a judgment of acquittal. The motion was granted Tuesday with Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Joan Synenberg noting that none of the eyewitnesses were able to identify the defendant as the shooter.
House Expected to Pass Senate Bill Making Juneteenth a National Holiday
The House is expected to vote Wednesday on a bill that would establish Juneteenth as a national holiday, CNN reports. Tuesday, the Senate unanimously voted in favor of the legislation. Once approved by the House, the bill will be passed to President Joe Biden to be signed into law.

Lena Waithe is seeking to make her mark on the music industry by way of her new record label, Hillman Grad Records. The venture, which is in partnership with Def Jam Records, seeks to showcase artists with a knack for storytelling through song. “I don’t want to do the typical thing,” Waithe told Rolling Stone. “We are not going to come out with 10 albums a year. It’s about finding really interesting artists who have a real drive and sense of wanting to figure out who they are over time.”
