Susan Rice Withdraws Name From Secretary of State Consideraton

Susan Rice

In a shocking turn of events, UN Ambassador Susan Rice has announced she is withdrawing her name from consideration for the Secretary of State position.

“If nominated, I am now convinced that the confirmation process would be lengthy, disruptive and costly — to you and to our most pressing national and international priorities,” said Rice in a letter to President Barack Obama. “That trade-off is simply not worth it to our country. Therefore, I respectfully request that you no longer consider my candidacy at this time.”

Before withdrawing from the position, Rice dealt with heavy criticism from Republicans due to her response to an attack on a US compound in Benghazi, Libya. She recently spoke with individual members of Congress about the fallout.
