Banks, who is the creator of the hit series America’s Next Top Model, has hosted the NBC talent competition show since 2017. It was speculated that the former supermodel would be leaving the show to pursue opportunities including producing TV and movies.
She previously hinted at an leaving during an interview on Access in November.
“I don’t know [if I’ll be coming back],” Banks said. “I think I had a really nice run with AGT. I had a lot, a lot of fun. I’m really focusing on Life-Size — I’m going to be producing TV, and I have a massive project starting next year. I’m not so sure, but if I don’t come back, I had a lot of fun.”
The secret project is supposedly “something that has never been done before.”
Banks added, “It is so massive. It’s really making me look at everything that I’m doing and saying, ‘What can I peel off? What can I not do? What can I truly focus on?’ It’s coming out in the fall of next year.”
Banks’ took on the gig after comedian Nick Cannon announced his exit from his eight-season tenure as the show’s host in Feb. 2017 over a racial joke he made about NBC.
“I was to be punished for a joke … My soul won’t allow me to be in business with corporations that attempt to frown on freedom of speech, censor artists, and question cultural choices,” wrote Cannon on Facebook. “I will not stand for it. My moral principles will easily walk away from the millions of dollars they hang over my head.”
Banks recently starred in the movie, Life Size 2: A Christmas Eve.
