The Walking Dead star Sonequa Martin-Green is honoring her mother by being a Stand Up to Cancer ambassador.
During an interview with Essence, Martin-Green detailed her involvement with the campaign during a taping of the “Stand Up for All of Us” public service announcement.
“I’m honored to lend a voice to this message so that more patients can be aware of their options,” she said. “Clinical trials are a fundamental path to progress and they allow researchers to test cutting-edge and potentially life-saving treatments. Participation is so important.”
Martin-Green’s mother and sister are both cancer survivors, making Stand Up To Cancer very personal.
“My mom had breast, colon and a slow-growing stomach cancer,” she said. “She’s survived all three. She’s a warrior, a hero.”
