Pastor John Gray and his wife, Aventer, recently appeared on popular television talk show The Real, where they discussed the “emotional affair” that took place between the man of God and an unnamed woman. Upset with being described as the person who “tried to disrupt their marriage and their ministry,” that woman is now speaking out anonymously, claiming Gray was the one who attempted to turn their 20-year friendship into something inappropriate.

While speaking to host Larry Reid, the woman claimed the “affair” began after the pastor helped her with an employee who was battling addiction. While thanking him, she claims the married father of two sent a questionable text message.

“So I sent him a text message telling him thank you. And he said, ‘Whatever you need.’ And I was like, ‘Well, thank you.’ And he said, ‘I’m talking about YOU.’”

She went on, “It snowballed into ‘I just love you so much. I always loved you. I always thought about you. I always cared about you.’”

Allegedly, Gray also told the woman he only married his wife “because she looked good on paper” and that he had plans to leave her.

The woman also provided voicemails to back up her claim that Gray was the aggressor, including one of Gray becoming very upset after she didn’t answer his calls. In another message, Gray told the woman his wife found out that he booked her a room at their hotel. Aventer, however, didn’t know that Gray paid a visit to the other woman’s room. He also instructed the woman to delete the message.
