10-year-old Jaheem McKinzie killed himself on Saturday after reportedly being beaten and choked with an extension cord by his mother. On Friday, Fox 13 reported the tragic incident has made its way to rapper Yo Gotti.

According to the network, the artist will assist with the young boy’s funeral expenses. The “Rake It Up” rapper and the young boy are both from Memphis, Tennessee.

The fourth-grader’s mother Robin McKinzie claimed her son ran into the kitchen after she harmed him. She alleged he then stabbed himself in the chest with a kitchen knife. He died an hour after arriving at the hospital.

Many are still speculating as to whether the mother was telling the entire truth. The investigation into the case is still ongoing and McKinzie is being held on a $100,000 bail.
