George Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O'Mara filed a not guilty plea on behalf of his 28-year-old client at his formal arraignment. Charged with second-degree murder for the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman has gone into hiding until required to appear in court again. The Seminole County judge set the pre-trial date for Aug. 8 while O’Mara filed for continuance, waiving Zimmerman’s right to a speedy trial and asking for more time to prepare their defense.

Zimmerman, who claims he was attacked by the teen on the night of Feb. 26th, was able to raise $200,000 on his now defunct-website, which many saw as extremely distasteful. His attorney claims that $50,000 is being used for the self-appointed “neighborhood watchman’s” security and setting up his living arrangements and hiding. The remaining $150,000 was turned over to an independent administrator to manage (read: Poppa Zimmerman).
