Nick Cannon has stood by his wife Mariah Carey amidst all of the scandal surrounding Carey and fellow "American Idol" judge Nicki Minaj. Cannon recently spoke out about a video that surfaced online this week, in which the "Pound the Alarm" rapper can be seen having a profane, heated argument with Carey during the show's taping.

"My wife is the strongest and classiest woman that I've ever met, if you watch the video, she just maintains her composure," the "America's Got Talent" host said during a televised interview. "I don't think she's moved by the theatrics and pageantry of it all. She signed up to do a job to help young people … this is like a sidebar. I hope that's not what this show becomes, about the catfights … [she] signed up to be a mentor on a show that is about people accomplishing their dreams."

Cannon had more to say about his wife, claiming that as a mother her primary concerns are her children. Still, "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest did admit that the fight reached a breaking point. "It was intense, I'll be honest with you," Seacrest said on his radio show yesterday morning. "It did go too far, to the point where the producers said, 'Let's call it a day.'"
