Gayle King finally put the speculation to rest, announcing that her best friend Oprah was not, in fact, godmother to Blue Ivy. "It’s absolutely not true that she’s the godmother," King told CBS Morning News. "She’s friends with them, of course, and likes them both very much." Gayle also squashed the rumour that Oprah had sent the newborn lavish baby gifts, including an elaborate treasure chest filled with books. "She’s working on sending them a baby gift," explained King. "She hasn’t even had time to send a baby gift because she’s been away."

With the media dubbing new parents Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrity royalty and Oprah being the queen of media, many had simply assumed that these major forces would join together to create the ultimate Black royal family. Whoever the godmother turns out to be, we are pretty sure that Blue Ivy will continue to be surrounded by major talent, given her parents extensive network of artists and influencers. Plus, having already broken Billboard records as the youngest person to appear on the charts ever, thanks to her feature on her daddy's song "Glory," Blue Ivy will undoubtedly be making big moves as she grows up, Oprah godmother or no Oprah godmother.

Would Oprah joining forces with the Knowles-Carter family have given us a Black royal family? Or, does Blue Ivy already have enough celebrities in her life to last her an eternity?
