Following resurfaced accusations of sexual assault by R. Kelly, Philadelphia Councilwoman Helen Gym has introduced a resolution that would ban the singer from the city, NBC 10 reports.

“If you’re a rapist or a child molester, you’re not welcome in Philadelphia,” Gym said. “I think we live at an incredible moment in time where we are no longer accepting the protection of powerful men at the expense of women."

The resolution, which will be voted on by the entire city council next week, would denounce Kelly and not give him a platform in Philadelphia.

Earlier this month, Lifetime aired the documentary  Surviving R. Kelly, which featured interviews with women who said they were abused by the singer; discussed his marriage to a then-15-year-old Aaliyah; and covered his child pornography trial, during which he was acquitted in 2008.

Kelly, who has denied all allegations against him, was dropped by Sony Music last week.

There are currently no criminal charges against the singer.
