Report: Former NFL Player Phillip Adams Kills 5 In S.C. Mass Shooting
Former NFL player Phillip Adams reportedly killed five people in a mass shooting that took place in South Carolina Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. A source told a reporter that Adams' parents lived in a home near the victims. Dr. Robert Lesslie, a victim of the shooting reportedly treated Adams in the past. Lesslie's wife, two grandchildren - ages 5 and 9 - and a man who worked at the Lesslie home were also found dead at the Rock Hill property. Adams committed suicide just after midnight Thursday.
Derek Chauvin Defense Argues Floyd's "I Can't Breathe" Statement Was A Form Of Resisting Arrest
Derek Chauvin's defense attorney Eric Nelson argued in court Wednesday that George Floyd telling officers "I can't breathe" as they attempted to load him into a squad car was a form of resisting arrest, the Washington Post reports. Later that day, Nelson played indiscernible body cam audio and argued that Floyd said "I ate too many drugs." Police expert Jody Stiger testified that he could not make out what Floyd said in the audio while James Reyerson, a special agent with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Investigation said the clip sounded more like Floyd said, "I ain't do drugs."
Former Giants Wide Receiver Arrested On Murder Charges
Ex-Giants wide receiver Travis Rudolph was arrested Wednesday on a first-degree murder charge and an attempted murder charge in connection to a double shooting that took place in West Palm Beach, WCTV reports. One man died in the shooting. Another was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries. The 25-year-old former NFL star is expected to appear in court Thursday. He is currently being held without bond.
Biden Takes Executive Action On Gun Control
President Joe Biden has made a move towards tightening gun control restrictions. According to CNN, he is expected to issue a series of executive orders directing his administration to implement tighter restrictions on the sale of "ghost guns" - homemade guns that don't have serial numbers - and pistol braces. The executive orders will include required background checks for the purchase of ghost guns.
Nike Suspends Relationship With Deshaun Watson
As the number of massage therapists who have accused Deshaun Watson of sexual misconduct increases, Nike has announced plans to suspend their current endorsement deal with the Houston Texans quarterback.
