After graduating from college, she embarked on a journey that led her to both the music industry and Silicon Valley. Before she became an influencer in both arenas, she held internships at Google, BET Networks and on Capitol Hill. Charles would go on work at Twitter and to coordinate partnerships with well-known musicians who used the social media platform, which included JAY-Z's first Twitter Q&A and direct-to-fans campaigns with Big Sean, J. Cole and Ludacris. Charles created Twitter Blackbirds, a resource group for African-American employees. In her role at Instagram, she works with the music industry and partners with some of the biggest media outlets. Currently, Charles is working to launch Magic in Her Melanin, a community organization and collective that highlights the stories of women of color and bridges the gap between creators of color and the tech industry.
