The world lost a music great when celebrated R&B singer and actress Aaliyah died at the ripe age of 22. Many agree that despite the large success she had received as an artist and performer, the young woman had yet to reach her peak. Well, according to various sources, the singer may get a posthumous chance to wow music listeners once again in a new album. Producers Timbaland and J. Dub both claim to have new unheard Aaliyah material, including the J. Dub produced "Steady Ground," penned by Aaliyah's late friend Static Major.

Although Aaliyah's label has yet to confirm this project, we can still hope that the rumors are true. Given that J. Dub revealed the news about a possible new album as well as his track via Twitter, that may be the place where we learn whether or not this project officially gets the green light. Having died so young and suddenly, Aaliyah's musical talents that she shared with the world, not to mention those killer, signature dance moves and style, have been sorely missed and proven irreplaceable.

Still, over a decade has passed since she passed. Would an Aaliyah album compiled of old songs still bring the fire and stand up against today's hit artists?
