This is certainly the season of Quinta Brunson and Angela Bassett. While the two women have always excelled and shined in any role they portray—or any new project they release—2023 is simply unlocking new levels for them both. Brunson and Bassett were recently announced as Time's 2023 Women of the Year, among a stellar list of other women doing amazing things in their careers as well.

Time selected this year's leaders based on their significant impact in their respective communities and fields, ranging from activism and government to sports and the arts, with many having faced immense challenges that inspired them to push for change. Included in the 2023 cohort were: Cate Blanchett, Megan Rapinoe, Ramla Ali, Masih Alinejad, Olena Shevchenko, Ayisha Saddiqa, Verónica Cruz Sánchez and Phoebe Bridgers.

“When I came into this business, the path was not clear,” Angela Bassett said while being honored at the gala. "I grew up at a time when it was a special occasion when people who looked like me were featured on the television screen or movie screen or in the theaters. But it was women like Rosalind and Ruby Dee and Diahann Carroll and Cicely Tyson, whose perseverance and resilience led me to have courage—courage to stay the course, no matter what the obstacles."

The annual Time Women of the Year Gala took place on March 8, 2023—also International Women's Day—at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverl Hills. Beyond the phenomenal women being honored on this special day, there were several other heavy hitters in attendance to help celebrate the women and also give them their flowers—both literally and figuratively.
