R. Kelly’s explosive, two-part interview with Gayle King of CBS This Morning found the singer becoming extremely emotional while discussing his recent arrest on 10 counts of criminal sex abuse. While some have questioned his decision to speak out, the Kelly camp reportedly believes the interview was a success.

Jeff Glor of CBS Evening News revealed that King spoke with Kelly insiders after the Q&A aired “to check in to see how they were doing.”

“They said they were pleased with the interview,” King shared. “Yup, they thought it gave Robert a chance to tell his story and Robert is prepared to answer any question.”

King’s best friend, Oprah Winfrey, also praised the journalist for her work. The talk show legend echoed the sentiments of viewers who are ready to see the interview in its entirety.

“Bravo @GayleKing for calm and and steady focus during #RKelly interview. Outstanding job! Tell @CBSThisMorning we want to see the whole thing.”
