Diplomats’ rapper Juelz Santana, born LaRon James, was sentenced to 27 months in prison on Wednesday, according to the South Passaic Voice.

James, 36, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a weapon on an aircraft on March 9.

The cast member of Love & Hip Hop New York turned himself in to authorities on March 12 after a .38-caliber handgun, two live rounds and nonprescription oxycodone pills were found in his carry-on bag.

He was released on bail in April. James and his longtime girlfriend, Kimbella, discussed the ordeal on Season 9 of the reality series. He recently proposed to the reality star during a Diplomats concert in New York.

They Said I Took 2 Long… At least I Know It’s Gonna Last Forever… #MyQueen,” Juelz Santana captioned a photo with Kimbella.

The rapper admitted to having an addiction, which he occurred after having major tooth surgery. According to TMZ, James also pleaded guilty to “possession of a controlled dangerous substance.”

Following the completion of his sentence, he will be under supervised release for one year.

James was also arrested in 2011 after police raided his New Jersey studio and found two loaded handguns, drug paraphernalia and 17 bags of marijuana. He pleaded guilty to fourth-degree marijuana distribution.

The rapper has yet to comment on his sentencing.
