The beautiful Regina King recently partnered with QVC and the Cosmetic Executive Women Foundation for a two-hour live broadcast, QVC and CEW Present Beauty with Benefits. Beauty with Benefits is a multimedia beauty event created with the purpose of proving that “a little makeup can make a big difference.” It highlighted the philanthropic efforts of the beauty industry and provided viewers the opportunity to support a great cause through a dynamic shopping experience. The broadcast featured more than 15 beauty brands, with net proceeds benefiting the Cancer and Careers program. Through the program, the CEW Foundation supports men and women balancing work and cancer.

The diverse product offering included everything from color cosmetics and fragrance to skin and hair care products. QVC provided another perk by offering a gift with each purchase that consisted of beauty samples from participating brands, as well as free shipping and handling on products.

Ever in tune with the times, QVC also launched a social media campaign via Instagram to build further awareness. With the first 500 photos tagged with the hashtag #beautywithbenefits, QVC made a donation to Cancer and Careers.

We managed to get a moment during Regina King’s busy filming schedule to get her personal thoughts on Beauty with Benefits and its impact.

EBONY: This is a creative, quite honestly fabulous way to make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer. Why did you find it important to get behind this cause in particular?

Regina King: I am very excited to be a part of such a great cause and help raise funds for people who have cancer and want to continue to work. I have friends and family who have been affected by cancer and I try to do anything I can to help.

EBONY: Given your stardom, this is a great way to help further a cause that you believe in. So of course, this event focuses largely on beauty. What does beauty mean to you?

RK: Beauty, to me, means being comfortable in your own skin and feeling confident.

EBONY: What’s one of your personal beauty secrets?

RK: The best beauty secret is plenty of “beauty” sleep, and keep hydrated by drinking lots of water.
