'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star Cynthia Bailey is known for serving looks. “I wear a lot of wigs and weaves. I like to change my hair up a lot,” says Bailey. “When I first came on the show, production was a little concerned, they were like, ‘wait, we don't know if the fans can identify with all these different looks.’ And, I had to make it very clear at that time that I'm not just one hairstyle.”

Thus, it was a natural fit when SheaMoisture came calling and tapped Cynthia Bailey and her daughter Noelle Robinson to be brand ambassadors of the brand’s new Wig & Weave Collection—a hair care line catering to the installation, maintenance and removal of protective hairpieces.

The mother-daughter duo are serious about caring and preserving their natural tresses under their units. "I think 2020 gave every woman an opportunity to grow their edges back, Mine are stronger than ever! lt really gave me a chance to give them a break. And, I don't want to lose them again," admits Bailey. "I love to lay my baby hair, so I need to make sure that they're there when I take off the wig," adds Robinson. "I'm super excited that [this haircare collection] is going to help me maintain my natural hair and keep it healthy underneath so I can do my natural styles and also switch it up with a wig or weave."

But just as you would treat your real mane with TLC, you also have to handle your hair unit with care. "Your wig is like your hair as well. You got to treat it with the same love and respect,"stresses the reality star. Below the pair, offer tips for wearing and maintaining your wig or weave.

Cynthia Bailey and Noelle Robinson’s Tips for Wearing and Maintaining Your Wig or Weave:

Wash Your Wigs Regularly

To avoid them from looking dull, Bailey washes her wigs every 3-4 wears to ensure they look shiny and luscious.

Dry Your Hair Thoroughly If You Have A Sew-In Weave

When cleansing your hair, don’t neglect the area under your braids; be sure to wash it well. Also, mildew can be a problem if your scalp is left slightly damp—so don’t air dry your mane. Sit under a bonnet dryer until your hair is thoroughly dry.

Don’t Apply Glue Directly Onto Your Edges

That’s the fastest way to snatch off your edges. But if you do, be wise and remove your lace-front properly with a gentle solvent.

Maintain Your Investment

Premium wigs and extensions can be costly. Treat them with the same loving manner as you would your real hair. You can get more mileage out of them and extend their life by treating them with moisturizing hair agents that are lightweight and won’t leave behind a greasy film.
