“Open mouth, and insert foot” seems to be the policy the Santorum campaign is using to make the GOP consider him as their nominee. Just days after being forced to clarify comments he’s made about President Barack Obama’s “theology,” Santorum is on the defensive again. Critics and pundits say that Santorum once tried to compare the nation’s current Commander-in-Chief to Adolf Hitler while speaking to a mega-church in Georgia.

“Remember, the greatest generation for a year and a half sat on the sidelines while Europe was under darkness,” Santorum said, likening the buildup to World War II to the election. “We’re a hopeful people. We think, ‘Well, you know, it’ll get better. Yeah, he’s a nice guy. I mean, it won’t be near as bad as what we think. This will be okay. I mean, yeah, maybe he’s not the best guy after a while, after a while you find out some things about this guy over in Europe who’s not so good of a guy after all…’”

Santorum quickly defended his comments Monday when asked whether he was comparing the president to Hitler. It seems that we all have our historical facts out of order, as Santorum states he was comparing Obama to Winston Churchill, not Hitler. Ok.

Is there any chance that anyone from this motley crew of Republican nominees can defeat Obama in the general election?
