Rihanna filed a lawsuit against her former accountants Thursday, claiming they defrauded her of tens of millions of dollars, were shoddy bookkeepers, and failed to recommend cutting expenses when a 2009 tour was losing money. Seeking unspecified damages against the New York-based Berdon LLP and two accountants, a spokeswoman said the company had no immediate comment. Rihanna is suing under her real name, Robyn Fenty, and alleges through her attorneys that the defendants drained revenues while she launched four national and international tours over a five-year period.

The lawsuit further alleges that Berdon's unusual practice of paying itself commissions on revenues was not standard in the accounting and business management industry and created a clear conflict of interest. The "Last Girl on Earth" fired the firm and its accountants in September 2010 and with 2011's "Loud" tour, she was able to produce a net profit equal to more than 40 percent of her total tour revenues.
