After 911 tapes chronicling the last moments in Trayvon Martin's life were released this week, Russell Simmons took to Twitter to ease the pain and expand some minds. His tweet: "Trayvon Martin didn't die so we can create a race war he died so we can promote better understanding. We must start honest discussion."

Simmons has a valid point to ask for better understanding and honest discussion, but Trayvon Martin didn't die so we could "start a dialogue." He died because a man obsessed with profiling young Black males shot Martin in the chest. The honest discussion begins with answers on how an individual like that can still walk free.

Is Simmons being too politically correct here?
