Tennis titan Serena Williams won her fourth U.S. Open title this past Sunday. After the 2-hour, 18-minute match, Williams beat Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, winning her 15th Grand Slam. "I honestly can't believe I won. I really was preparing my runner-up speech, because I thought, 'Man, she's playing so great,' " Williams told reporters during the trophy presentation, adding: "I'm really shocked."

With this win, Williams has made history yet again by becoming the first women's tennis player to surpass $40 million in earnings. Her U.S. open title increases her on-court career earnings to $40,090,142. Given her recent first-place wins at the London Olympic games and Wimbledon, this summer has cemented Williams' title as one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
