The official trailer for New Line Cinema's latest adaptation of Shaft was released Wednesday.
The film, written by Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow, is a family affair starring Jessie T. Usher as Shaft Jr.; Samuel L. Jackson as his father, John Shaft II; and Richard Roundtree, who played the original private detective in the 1971 blaxploitation film.
Shaft Jr. is an MIT graduate and cybersecurity expert who enlists his family to help look into his best friend's death, according to IMDB.
Regina Hall, Alexandra Shipp and Method Man also star in the Tim Story-directed movie.
