Disney’s “The Lion King,” directed by Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book”), journeys to the African savannah where a future king, Simba, is born. The young prince idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny.

The theme for Tina Knowles' Wearable Art Gala last weekend was "A Journey to the Pride Lands," which was based on the upcoming live-action THE LION KING film, which features the voices of stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala; James Earl Jones as Mufasa; Alfre Woodard as Sarabi; and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar; and Seth Rogen as Puumba.

Staying true to the original story, Favreau utilizes pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring the iconic characters to the big screen in a new way. Disney’s “The Lion King” opens in theaters on July 19, the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film.
