San Antonio Spurs rookie Lonnie Walker IV got some Twitter users in an uproar on Wednesday over a tweet about not celebrating the Fourth of July.
“Will never celebrate 4th of July. Know your history!! and stay woke,” he wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
Walker, who was chosen as the no.18 pick during the NBA draft by the Spurs, faced backlash and was told by some users to leave the country.

ESPN Sports business reporter Darren Rovell said that it wasn’t a good idea for Walker to tweet that comment because of the military.
Probably not the best take from the Spurs draft pick in the state that has the second largest group of active and reserve members of the military in the United States. https://t.co/20lgKDa7lx

Walker did have people defending him on his stance.
