When it comes to weddings, we all tend to forget the groom and the necessities for his big day. So today’s post is all about getting the groom’s skin intact for his big day. Here, I offer a few of my favorite tips that’ll have every future husband-to-be’s skin looking smooth and clear for his wedding day. Here are the three keys to great skin for your special day.
Make Sure to Cleanse Daily
The same remains true for men as it does for the ladies: find a great cleanser that works for your skin type; especially if you shave often or grow in your facial hair. A great cleanser will really make the difference. If you have oily skin, try a face scrub like Clinique’s Oil Control Face Wash ($16.50 at Sephora.com). It preps the skin for an ultra-close shave and takes away excess sebum and shine for a smooth finish.
For those gentlemen who love their facial hair, here’s a great tip to follow: Don’t skip your beard while washing your face. Even the skin underneath all your hair needs to be treated to a gentle cleanse twice a day.
Don’t Shave with Cheap Razors
I think I get the most questions about how to get a super-close shave. My top tip on this subject would be not to buy cheap razors. You know that old saying, “you get what you pay for?” That definitely applies here. I know that razors can be a bit expensive, but they are well worth the investment. Always try to purchase a razor with multiple blades if you’re going the drugstore route.
Although I know that shopping at places like The Art of Shaving can put a little dent in your pocket, keep in mind this is an investment that will last for years with proper care and refills. Also remember that a great razor and shaving cream will ensure you get the closest shave possible without irritating or damaging your skin.
Moisturize, Moisturize and Moisturize Some More
This is absolutely non-negotiable! No man wants his face to feel like sandpaper. So fellas, let’s do two things: be sure to use an aftershave lotion, and moisturize with a good cream or lotion. An aftershave will soothe and hydrate the skin after a shave, while a moisturizer will balance the skin and prevent dryness throughout the day.
To my guys with beards or goatees: Don’t forget to also moisturize your facial hair.
