GUESS Originals has teamed up with A$AP Rocky for it’s second installation, the Spring 17 capsule GUESS Club. According to a press release, GUESS Club developed by GUESS and A$AP Rocky’s creative group AWGE, was designed to highlight icons at the forefront of fashion, entertainment, art and design.
Last February, GUESS and A$AP debuted its original GUESS Club collection, which “sold out in hours.”
The expectations for the second capsule are projected to be the same. With inspiration from GUESS vintage pieces and archives, GUESS Club features the collaborators signature denim design, stripes and vibrant color schemes.
While the first capsule of GUESS Club featured unisex designs, this second installment will include many pieces exclusive to women.
Why did GUESS collaborate with A$AP Rocky, you ask? The answer is simple. He’s a creative, fashion forward, multi-disciplined hip-hop artist.
“My relationship with A$AP Rocky and GUESS has greatly evolved due to a unique synergy between both of our brands” said Paul Marciano, GUESS Founder and Chief Creative Officer, in a press release. “This season the collaboration returns with another denim-heavy collection injected with quintessential 80s and 90s influences seen in oversized denim jackets and logo-centric styles. Rocky’s artistic vision has revitalized these iconic silhouettes with unexpected colors, designs and patterns.”
The campaign was photographed a few weeks back in L.A by Hannah Sider, with creative direction led by A$AP and his group AWGE. A$AP’s fondest memories of GUESS stemmed from his childhood, which inspired the vision for this collaboration.
“When it came to this collection I wanted to bridge the gap between youth and the past generations of GUESS. EITHER U IN OR U OUT,” said A$AP Rocky. “GUESS Club plays off the traditional clubhouse infrastructure, from the color ways to the products, even down to the passwords, this capsule collection displays the Manchild within myself A$AP Rocky; so have fun kids.”
The GUESS Club Spring Collection hits select stores like Black Market and Opening Ceremony on March 10th.
