There’s nothing like showing Black businesses love, especially in Brooklyn. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the Atelier Pantora Bridal Studio, and had a very candid conversation with designer and owner Andrea Pitter. This Brooklyn native and graduate of the High School of Fashion Industries describes herself as the perfect blend of a self-taught and formally trained dress designer.

Upon walking in this chic studio, set in Crown Heights, you’re immediately swarmed with racks of beautiful gowns to choose from, all created from the imagination of Pitter. But unlike traditional boutiques, you’ll find yourself interacting with the maven herself. Pitter does an extremely great job of catering to her customers, one-on-one. You can even look around and steal bits and pieces from individual dresses to have Andrea create your perfect one. Love the gorgeous neckline from the Ramona gown, but would really love to have the bottom of the Lana gown? No problem! Andrea will sketch that right out for you, right before your eyes.

She’s mastered the art of making wedding dress shopping a true experience for each and every woman that comes in. And to add to that, she can sketch out your dream bridesmaids dress, and even create a jaw dropping flower girl number your guests won’t forget.

The point is, Brooklyn women who are soon to be wed can get the entire, fabulous fashion package for herself and her bridal party, support Black-owned business and be the talk of the town on her big day. Oh, and did we mention she has some of the best advice for women who are looking to find their perfect dress? Check out her tips below and don’t hesitate to stop by!

Andrea’s tips for finding your perfect dress:

Be true to yourself. Make sure the dress you choose is the one you wanted, not what everyone else wanted for you.

Be realistic of your cans and cannots. Have a clear vision of what your budget is and what looks best on you. One of the most heartbreaking things is trying on and falling in love with a dress that you can’t afford or that just doesn’t look good on you.

If you do not DIY… DO NOT DIY!

Experience your trial and error fittings way before the wedding. Waiting until one week before the wedding to find your last minute gown is never a bright idea.

Plan ahead. Please don’t wait until a month before your wedding to shop for a gown. You may sacrifice what you really want in a gown for what’s available.

Surround yourself with extremely supportive people. These are the people who love you no matter what and won’t ruin your shopping day with ego, envy or attitude.

Be sure to visit the Pantora website for even more information on this fabulous designer and her stunning designs. At the ripe old age of 25, we’re sure Andrea has a long prosperous, career ahead of her.
