Bold. Rich. Texture. Movement. These will be the first words to pop into any woman’s mind the minute she lays eyes on Tracy Reese’s Spring 2014 collection. This time around, Reese plays around with athleticism and embraces it in her well-known feminine style. It’s refreshing and very unexpected for the designer who always nods to female curves.

Tropical colors and prints flow against the movement of her skirts, crop tops and lightweight trousers. Details like back ruffles and flyaway tees (as seen in sketch) offer just enough sex appeal without overdoing it. It’s modern, sexy and powerful.

Reese also pays meticulous tribute to the Afro-Cuban culture, while silhouettes such as geometric laces and full midi-skirts remind women on how to feel and look like a woman. While many would expect soft, muted colors, paisleys and floral print, Reese steps outside the box with bold stripes and masculine accents.

In the week to come, Tracy Reese debuts her spring collection to Fashion Week attendees.
