Who, what and where!

Front Row at Vera Wang 2013:
The star power was on full octane at Vera Wang’s Fall 2013 front row. Jada Pinkett Smith, John Legend and Rachel Roy all commanded just as much attention as the clothes walking the catwalk.  Luckily, this editor was able to grab a little face time with the crew, full interviews to come! –Ericka N. Godman, Fashion Editor

Backstage at Anna Sui Fall 2013:
To say backstage at Anna Sui was chaotic would be an understatement! Between the models, makeup artists, press and mayhem, you could barely move. But I got the chance to catch up with legendary makeup maestro Pat McGrath for COVERGIRL. The look was inspired by the 1960's new wave film featuring a monochromatic face with a graphic cat eye achieved with liquid and pencil liner. The rest of face was left bare with a sweep of blush for a slight flush. –Janell Hickman, Associate Beauty and Grooming Editor

Byron Lars Fall 2013 Presentation:

Byron Lars Beauty Mark debuted its Fall 2013 collection on February 14th, during New York Fashion Week.  The collection offered a fun and feminine mash-up of textiles and energy.  With tons of faux leather, tulle and sequin, each piece was as surprising as the next.  – EG

Hitchock inspired faces at Badgley Mischka Fall 2013:

Paging Alfred Hitchcock! The late great filmmaker's legendary movies inspired the beauty look backstage from hair to lips to tips! Deborah Lippmann used one of her new fall shades, Red Silk Boxers, to coordinate but not match the model's lip color. For makeup, Tom Pecheux created "Technicolor makeup" as he calls it by using a mix of navy, gold, white and black on the eyes. Our favorite trick was his subtle double lash on the outer corner of the eyes for a vintage winged look. – JH

Fashion Decoded’s Forum and Hackathon Finale:

The brightest, boldest and most beautiful of the tech and fashion worlds collided at the finale for Fashion Decoded’s Hackathon Finale. With speakers like Foursquare Founder Dennis Crowley, supermodel Karlie Kloss and designer Zac Posen, the crowd was all aflutter with inspirational tech tools to come. – EG

The Faces of Carolina Herrera Fall 2013:

I can safely say that the look of a true lady will return in 2013! Thank goodness, right? Backstage at Carolina, models sported forties-inspired hair with super polished side rolls and middle parts. MAC Cosmetics kept the makeup simple by softly filling in the brows and opting to create a lip stain on the lips opposed to a heavier lipstick. – JH

Butter LONDON Lounge:

With NYFW closing, my backstage beauty schedule was less hectic than previous days. Nail polish line Butter London treated editors to an NYFW manicure straight from the fall 2013 runways. I opted for the "wallis goes wild" mani from the Nicole Miller show! –JH
