There’s a full-servicing spa in your kitchen cabinets. Rethink the uses for your favorite cooking oils by checking out that facts on these not-so-secret skin enhancers.

GRAPESEED OIL

This toning oil is great for those with oily skin because it encourages balance. Oilier types tend to run away from anything they think will promote a greasy shine, but grapeseed oil has a light consistency that easily absorbs into the skin and brightens blemishes. Good to use for those with pesky scars. Apply a few drops to your moisturizer.

OLIVE OIL

Surely you’re aware of the wonders of the good ol’ olive. Known worldwide for its anti-inflammatory properties, this rich, Mediterranean oil is a dream come true for sensitive, dry types. It’s high in antioxidants, including vitamin E, and acts as a protective, healing barrier for those with eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Apply directly to freshly cleansed, damp skin.

PEANUT OIL

Along with making a tasty base for a sauté, peanut oil is great for softening and conditioning the skin. It works particularly well on skin disorders that cause scaling, and, when combined with lime juice, can be an effective acne treatment mask. Leave on for fifteen minutes and rinse.

SESAME SEED OIL

With its naturally anti-bacterial properties, sesame oil helps to heal and nourish the skin. It’s a natural UV protector, as well as a calming agent for agitated skin.

COCONUT OIL

If your skin is in need of rejuvenation and serious hydration, look no further than coconut oil. The silky serum is excellent for all over body care because it’s rich in proteins and fatty acids that help your skin retain moisture. Dab a little of the oil under your eyes every night to wake up looking radiant.
