This week we caught up with Bridgeport, Connecticut-based nail artist Tina, from Our Crown and Glory hair salon.

The Trend: Remember when ABC blocks, butterflies and everything in between were being glued on top of nails? Well, it’s looking like the trend is coming back around, but in a more calm and collected way. Tina gives a manicure a 3D-effect without all the toys and glue.

EBONY: How did you create this design?

Tina: I used white acrylic to build the 3D effects. The pinky finger, which I call the snake look, is also done with white acrylic and a lace fabric. Swarovski crystals were also added.

EBONY: What do you feel is your artistic significance when it comes to nail art?

Tina: I love to freestyle anything that inspired me to create my craft, such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel and pop art. The list goes on. My clients know I’m very into art, so they always let me freestyle.
