A few lucky women in the military recently received the ultimate spa day when Runway Curls, WEtv’s Mushiya Tshikuka and Minority Women Veterans Organization (MWVO) gifted them with full-fledged makeovers during the #NaturalsStandTall event.

Choosing seven ladies for a day a pampering, the coordinators whisked the selectees away to an Atlanta salon for head-to-toe transformations from the Cutting It In The ATL star and other celebrity stylists and makeup artists.

The soldiers, both veterans and active duty, were spoiled all day, but they didn’t leave the beauty parlor without candidly discussing the problems they face while overseas.

“What makes it more challenging having natural hair is the gas masks. It has 8 elastic straps. The seal has to be tight. All of your face is covered by rubber. The hard part with natural hair is removing the straps. When you remove it, the seal and the elastic bands pull your hair. With a wig, it all comes off,” one said. “Other women with straighter hair textures may not experience this.”

That’s one of the reasons MWVO launched “Glamming Forward,” a campaign that provides cosmetic products (Glam Box) to those in service.

“When veterans receive a Glam Box, they feel, someone cares about me feeling beautiful. Those things mean a lot – just to know people care who are outside the military, said Nyrea Liferidge, the leader of the initiative.

At the end of the affair, the beauties were ready to show off their stunning new looks to the world. Check out some of the pics above.
