A budding fashion icon in his own right, Trinidad-bred rapper Theophilus London, 24, navigated New York Fashion Week one trend at a time. We caught up with the “I Stand Alone” star backstage at the Diesel Black Gold Fall 2012 show where he discussed his catwalk skills, the Karl Lagerfeld moment and how-to properly care for gold teeth.
EBONY.com: You performed during the Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2012 Show, how did that come about?
Theophilus London: Rebecca’s cool, she’s really cool. She was basically like I’m a fan of yours, and the crowd will love it. And here’s 20 minutes of my show to just do your thing and walk with the models. So I rocked out.
EBONY.com: Who are some of your favorite fashion designers?
TL: Let’s see I’m into a whole bunch of different people – Alexander Wang… that’s my dude. I like Phillip Lim, he’s cool and I saw him last night. I like Jeremy Scott and he has some really dope sneakers.
EBONY.com: What’s your most prized fashion possession?
TL: I have this one tweed Chanel Jacket that Karl Lagerfeld gave me when we shot together. So that was good, he’s cool as f*ck. Oh and my Air Jordan 6 kicks.
EBONY.com: How did you prepare for Fashion Week?
TL: Brush my gold teeth.
