For a long time, menswear was considered an afterthought at New York Fashion Week. Heritage brands like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger were the only ones we saw at the tents. Well, the game done changed. These days, we are seeing collections from neo-traditional brands like J. Crew to emerging designers like Public School NYC putting it down to the same level of excitement and interest garnered by the womenswear looks showing all through Bryant Park and in satillite sites across the city. Check out our wrap-up of some of the most important Fall/Winter trends to emerge from the menswear shows.

THERE WILL BE OXBLOOD.

Oxblood was a major trend in fashion last year and it returns again this Fall. From chunky cable knit sweaters to tailored slim fit pants, the deep red hue will be an important addition to your closet.

50 SHADES OF GREY

Different variations of grey have made their way onto the runway, establishing the color as one of the new neutrals. Varying from heather to cool, going grey will keep you on trend later this year for sure.

COLOR BLOCK SHOCK

Color blocking (which is wearing two or more colors at a time) has been happening for a few seasons.  However this fall, we are seeing color block being fused into actual garments, from contrast colors on sleeves, pants and collars.

LEATHER THE STORM

We saw the makings of the leather comeback last year. And at this season's shows, leather was everywhere.  Whether it’s colored jackets, vests, details on a blazer or even leather pants, adding leather to your fall wardrobe is a MUST.

OUTERWEAR YOU OUGHT TO WEAR.

Let’s be honest: A lot of the warmest outerwear isn’t always the most attractive.  However, this season we are seeing some really awesome outerwear that’s will not only keep warm but also on trend.  Instead of wearing a car coat, try pairing a parka over a tailored suit for a fashion forward way to fight the cold.
